EVENT INFORMATION
The Achievement Day Dinner honors alumni who have achieved distinction in their chosen spheres of endeavor and interprets the excellence of William Jewell College to our greater Kansas City area constituency. The dinner also serves as a fundraising event for the Jewell Fund which provides needs-based student scholarships.
This year’s speaker is best-selling author James Bradley. His latest book, The Imperial Cruise, was released in November 2009 and tells the story of the 1905 diplomatic envoy sent by Theodore Roosevelt through the Asian Pacific. His first book, Flags of Our Fathers, was released as a motion picture in 2007 and directed by Clint Eastwood. He also wrote Flyboys, the secret story of George Bush and his fellow naval aviators’ experience in Iwo Jima. To learn more about James Bradley, visit www.jamesbradley.com.
Bradley has vast experience writing and producing corporate films and has lived and worked in more than 40 countries. He is President of the James Bradley Peace Foundation, dedicated to fostering understanding between America and Asia.
We are excited to bring Mr. Bradley to the William Jewell campus and also to share him with the Kansas City community. |
