Tom Durnin '68

Football

Tom Durnin graduated in 1968 and majored in physical education and mathematics. While at Jewell, he distinguished himself in both football and track. He was an offensive linemen in football and while it is difficult to ‘rack up’ a lot of statistics as an offensive linemen this gentlemen was a special performer. Every member of the Cardinals Hall of Fame 1967 Football Team named Tom Durnin as a leader in every sense of the word. He possessed outstanding strength, speed and quickness and opened a lot of ‘holes’ for Jewell’s outstanding running backs. Tom played on 4 conference championship teams in football. Tom was named first team All-Conference and first team All-District.

Terri Watson Godsey '84
Basketball

Terri Watson Godsey graduated in 1984 and majored in physical education. While at Jewell, she distinguished herself in basketball, softball and tennis. She is one of the career scoring leaders in basketball and had the 3-point shot been in effect when she played, she would most certainly be higher on the career list. One of the highlights of her career was when she hit a shot with 2 seconds to play to win the MAIAW State Tournament for the Cardinals. Terri was an All-Conference and All-State performer for the Cardinals.

Dick Michael '69
Baseball

Dick Michael graduated in 1969 and majored in physical education. While at Jewell, he distinguished himself as one of the all-time greats in baseball. This slick fielding second baseman could make every play in the field. Dick was a member of 4 conference championship teams in baseball. He was one of the leaders of the 1968 baseball team which won the NAIA National Championship in 1968. Dick was an All-Conference, All-District and Honorable Mention All-American selection.

Kim Rivers '88

Kim Rivers graduated 1989 and majored in physical education.
While at Jewell, he distinguished himself as the first ever first team All-American in basketball. Kim was the catalyst on Jewell’s 1987-88 squad which won the Conference Championship, the NAIA District 16 Championship and reached the Quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament at Kemper Arena. The Cardinals finished the season 32-2. Kim was named Player of the Year in the Conference and District and made the All-Star Team in three invitational tournaments.
