Donor Societies

Donors of William Jewell College are recognized in a number of ways. One of these includes giving societies. The Office of Institutional Advancement offers the following recognition.

John Priest Greene Society
The John Priest Greene Society is the institution’s premier annual giving society that honors the legacy of William Jewell’s longest-serving president by recognizing members who make a long-term commitment to provide an annual leadership-level gift to the Jewell Fund. The John Priest Greene Society recognizes alumni, parents, and friends who play a leadership role in supporting the College by donating $1,000 or more every year to the Jewell Fund. The Jewell Fund is used to support the current needs of William Jewell’s students and faculty, and provides a powerful and flexible source of funding for the College.

Recognizing John Priest Greene Society Members

Circle of 1849

First-time members of the John Priest Greene Society receive the prestigious honor of having a brick bearing the donor’s name placed in the Circle of 1849 - the border of the walkway that encircles the Quad. As future generations of students make their first and last ceremonial walk around the Quad, they will be surrounded by the names of committed Jewell supporters.

Annual Reception

Supporters who make the long-term commitment to Jewell by joining the John Priest Greene Society will be invited to an annual President’s Reception.

President’s Report

The College will recognize you and all other members of the John Priest Greene Society in the annual President’s Report.

To join the John Priest Greene Society, provide an online gift of $1,000 or more to the Jewell Fund or click here for a form that can be mailed with a check (made payable to WJC, with Jewell Fund noted on the memo line) to: William Jewell College, 500 College Hill, Campus Box 1032, Liberty, MO 64068.

Alexander Doniphan Heritage Society
The Alexander Doniphan Heritage Society is a community of William Jewell College faithful who share the original dream of what a college on “the hill” can become. This group, which includes alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and administration, lends support to this cause by including the college in their long-term financial estate planning. Membership in the Alexander Doniphan Heritage Society occurs through any one of several ways:

  • By naming the College as a beneficiary in a will, trust, life insurance policy, annuity, or retirement plan.
  • By establishing life-income arrangement, such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity.
  • By making a current gift of $10,000 or more to the Doniphan Endowment.
